Access to primary and secondary school is free. Life Skills or Comprehensive Sexuality Education is not yet well defined through the public curriculum and is mostly provided through non-governmental organizations and ministries other than the Ministry of Education. The National Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy and Plan of Action 2009-2015 will aim to educate adolescents about issues such as fertility, safe sex, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), HIV and AIDS and unplanned pregnancy and abortion. (UNESCO, 2011, GPS Country Report)

One of the activities envisioned by the health plan is a legal and policy review. One of the aims of this review will be to demonstrate the need for enacting laws which protect people providing sexual and reproductive health and family planning services to unmarried adolescents below age 18, who have not been given parental consent. Another planned activity is providing young people with accurate information, skills development sessions and user-friendly sexual reproductive health services. (MOH, The National Sexual and Reproductive Health Strategy and Plan of Action 2009-2015)

The regional hospitals and community health centres across the island offer an array of health services including family planning, HIV and AIDS services, emergency contraception provision and prenatal care. Currently, the government is working towards expanding from 3 to 10 youth-friendly facilities across the island to improve accessibility. (UNESCO, 2011, GPS Key Results)
