There are an estimated 5.4 million YPLHIV worldwide (UNAIDS, 2010) and 45% of new HIV infections occur among 15-24 year olds (WHO, 2009). Young people living with HIV have diverse, complex and changing needs. While they may share certain needs in common with both younger children and older adults, there are specifi c issues that they face linked to their evolving capacity, their physical and emotional development and the transition from protected childhood into independent adulthood.
